When can a LPA be used?

Only when you are unable to make your own decisions.

What can my Property and financial affairs LPA attorneys do?

Make decisions about money and property for you e.g managing a bank or building society account, paying bills, collecting benefits and pensions and selling your home.

What can my Health and Welfare LPA attorneys do?

Make decisions about your daily routine (eg washing, dressing, eating), your medical care, moving you into a care home and any life-sustaining treatment.

Why are the forms not simpler?

Unfortunately we have to use the standard forms and follow the standard OPG procedures.

Why should I register my LPA now when I may not need it for many years?

The standard OPG advice is to register now to avoid any potential problems or delays in the future.

Can I decide to defer registration?

Yes.

What if I change my mind about my Trustees?

Simply cancel the existing documents and sign new ones.

What if someone mentioned in my LPA changes address or their name?

No problem – your existing documents will not need updating.

Why does the OPG charge £82 per document for registration?

A good question!
